The shielding inductors, connected with capacitors, form a series resonant circuit (usually 189 Hz) that prevents unwanted resonance and also acts as a broadband filter. This protects the individual components of the compensation system from overload. The dampers are characterized by high linearity and low losses. In most cases, it is advisable to use chokes when the THDu voltage distortion is greater than 3%.

Construction

The chokes are manufactured from high quality, low loss transformer plates with copper wire or aluminium strip windings. The core is designed with multiple air gaps to ensure high current linearity and low temperature losses. They are impregnated with a high quality epoxy resin which provides good insulation, low noise and long life. The inductors are equipped with thermal protection to prevent overheating. The lower power rating inductors are designed with copper wire windings and leads through
terminal block or cable lugs. The windings of chokes with higher ratings are made of aluminium strip and aluminium busbars are used as terminals (copper terminals are available on request).
