Contactor K3-24K00 -110V

Contactor Benedict GmbH for switching capacitors K3-24K00 110 v AC, 50 Hz
Order number: K3-24K00110

The K3-24K00 110VAC contactor from Benedict GmbH features a high-quality, robust construction and is designed for installation in low-voltage, three-phase networks. These contactors can be equipped with auxiliary contact blocks. The installed auxiliary contacts with damping resistors (pre-contacts) provide:

  • Reduction of switching current surges to <70xIn,
  • Protection of capacitors from current surges (which can typically reach up to 200xIn),
  • Prevention of contact burnout.

Considerations:

  • Maximum thermal current for contactor K3-74A: Ith 130A.
  • Total disconnection time = contact switching time + arc duration.
  • Switch-on delay values for closing contacts and switch-off time for opening contacts will increase if the magnet coils are protected against voltage peaks (e.g., varistor, RC unit, diode unit).

For protecting Benedict GmbH K3 contactors, fuses with slow-blow characteristics gL (gG) are recommended.

Application

These Austrian-made contactors are designed for switching capacitive loads. They use a two-stage switching mechanism, achieved through auxiliary contacts. This design prevents arcing and subsequent welding of the main contacts, as seen in older contactors (e.g., V100, V13). Unlike conventional contactors, they also reduce transition phenomena that propagate through the electrical network and can interfere with communication systems (e.g., telecommunications, PC networks).

Design

Auxiliary contacts (pre-contacts) are located on the contactor body and switch a few milliseconds before the main contacts. Using series-connected resistors, current surges are dampened to as low as 70 times Ie.

Due to their construction, these contactors are designed for high switching frequency and long service life, thus enhancing the reliability and lifespan of the entire compensation device. An additional advantage is the high switching capacity of up to 100 kVAr. The contactor can be equipped with auxiliary contacts (NO, NC) for purposes such as remote communication. Installation options include DIN rail or screw mounting.
