The annual preventive service significantly reduces the risk of faults and short circuits, extends the service life of capacitors and switching elements, and minimizes the risk of penalties for not meeting the power factor or for unwanted reactive energy. In practice this means fewer outages, lower thermal stress on the switchboard, a correctly set controller and metering, a clean and properly ventilated compensator, and a fully documented equipment condition. All of this comes at a single fixed annual price that is easy to approve and budget for.

The preventive inspection, including the statutory electrical inspection, comprises a visual and technical check of the compensator and switchboard; verification of cleanliness, ventilation, and filters; retightening of power terminations and checking contact resistances; measuring capacitor-bank capacitance, assessing losses and fuse condition; checking contactors or semiconductor switching stages; checking detuning/series reactors and correct detuning. We verify the settings and operation of the power factor (reactive power) controller, the correct CT orientation and CT/PT ratios, phase loadings, and the effectiveness of the compensation in kvar. Where appropriate, we perform thermography and verify protection devices. The assessment is concluded with the electrical inspection in accordance with applicable regulations.

At the end you receive an inspection report and a preventive-maintenance protocol with photo documentation, a prioritized list of deficiencies and recommendations, a proposal for the optimal target power factor and step configuration, recommendations for replacements including indicative prices and lead times, and a proposed maintenance periodicity. Critical defects are communicated without delay together with safe interim measures. The final report is normally delivered within ten working days after the inspection.

The program is designed to materially reduce the three most common risks: technical (fault, fire, downtime), financial (power-factor penalties, unwanted reactive energy charges, accelerated wear of components), and operational (unstable controller behavior, incorrect metering, inappropriate step configuration). If, after our preventive visit and the recommended fine-tuning, the power factor under normal operation still remains below the target and it is shown that the cause is on our side, we will perform a one-off corrective visit without charging additional labor.
